Mid Year Concerts
The Mid Year Concerts are a super fun event where ALL of the students that learn with Monster Music have the opportunity to perform something that they have been working on. The 2026 Mid Year Concerts are our biggest event to day with 46 schools and thousands of students!
There will be guitars, drums, keyboards, ukuleles, singers, rock bands, prizes and obviously a WHOLE LOT OF FUN!!
- $13 per adult (cash/eftpos on door)
- Under 16's are free!
There will be 25 concerts held between the 30th June and 9th of July in order to accommodate all of our awesome schools and performers (full concert list at the bottom!).
All concerts will be held at A Rolling Stone (A super cool bar on Colombo Street.
Monster Music is a Christchurch based music school who are passionate about providing children with an exciting and relevant introduction to learning an instrument. As well as weekly lessons, Monster Music has a huge emphasis on helping children gain confidence through regular performance opportunities both in their schools and in the community

Last year was so awesome we've decided to do it again. We’ve found the most talented primary & intermediate school bands across Canterbury — now they’re hitting the stage to show you what the next generation of Kiwi rockstars can do! Each band is bringing a 15-minute set, including at least one original song.

We're thrilled to announce our next Movie & Pizza Night, and this time, you decide what to watch!
Join us at the St Albans School Hall for a relaxed and fun evening, for a delicious pizza feast, and settle in for a great movie. All for for only $15
But here's the best part: we want to watch what you want to watch! Head over to our voting form to cast your vote from a selection of great music-inspired films. The movie with the most votes wins! Voting closes three days before the event, so make sure your voice is heard.
To make sure you're super comfy for the show, don't forget to BYO pillow or cushion to sit on! Get ready to relax, enjoy some fantastic company, and dive into a night of entertainment.

North Canterbury Mid Year Concerts 2026

There will be 2 concerts held on the 24th and 25th of June in order to accommodate all of our awesome North Canterbury schools and performers.
All concerts will be held at Montieths Rangiora.

Fat Eddies Variety Showcase
Monster Music and Fat Eddies have teamed up once again to put on a musical showcase of some of Christchurch's most talented primary school aged performers. You will see some epic guitarists, drummers, keyboardists, duo’s, bands and everything in between!
This event is a chance for some of Monster Music's most confident muso's to take to the stage and perform at one of the cities coolest venues.
**This event is open to all ages and we will be taking a Koha donation on entry.**
This is an awesome chance for you to check out some of the up and comers who are making waves in both Christchurch and abroad.

Hey there, Monster Music Students! It's time to get your groove on at our annual Monster Music Disco. Get ready to show off your best dance moves and have a blast with your fellow monsters.
This is a great chance for Monster Music students to have a boogie and meet other cool Monster Music students from other schools!

Location: Loop (PYDT) 1a Harewood Rd, Papanui
Dress Code: Come dressed up as your favourite TV or movie character!
Cost: $12 per entry
We'll be playing all the best tunes for a night of dancing and fun. Tell your friends, and let's make it a night to remember!
Monster Music Secret Garden
We're excited to announce a very special event unlike anything we've run before!
Monster Music 'Secret Garden' will be an all-ages show where everyone is welcome, but in a secret location where we'll pair the performers into duos and trios! This will be a ticketed event, but the Monster Rockers will get to keep the money for the tickets they sell. There will be lots of yummy food and drink available at the secret venue!

Movie & Pizza Night
Get ready for a fun-filled evening of film and fantastic food! Join us for our upcoming Movie & Pizza Night, where you get to help “pick the flick”.
For just $10, you'll enjoy delicious pizza and a great movie. Even better, we're letting you decide what's playing! Head over to our voting info page to cast your vote for which movie you'd love to see.

Rock-A-Thon 2025
Monster Music and A Rolling Stone have teamed up to put on an epic line-up of Canterbury's most awesome primary ages bands!
Show us how insane your band is by performing your a 3 song set. At least 1 song must be an original!
This event is open to bands only, please no solo performers!
This event is open via audition. If you are in a primary aged band make sure you send them in to events@monstermusic.nz before June 16th to take part.
Koha entry and open to all ages. If your band is performing: get your friends and family to say your bands name on the door - there will be a prize to the band that brings the most people!
This is an awesome chance for you to check out some of the up and comers who are making waves in both Canterbury and abroad.

Monster Music are taking over The Laboratory Lincoln for an afternoon of epic Monster Musicians!
Lunchtime Jams 2025
Lunchtime jams are a fantastic opportunity for the talented Monster Music kids to step into the spotlight and share the awesome songs they've been working so hard on. Students of all levels can perform a song for their school-mates in a supportive, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere. It's a great way to build confidence, discover new music, and support your fellow Monsters.
How to Join In:
Ask your tutor to sign you up and prepare one song to perform, solo or with friends. Bring your instrument, or let us know if you need school equipment. Backing tracks are welcome! Even if you're not performing, come along and enjoy the show! It's a fantastic way to spend your lunch break and support your talented classmates.
Lunchtime Jams are scheduled throughout the year, talk to your tutor to get involved!

Showcase at Joes Garage
We are super excited to be able to hold a showcase at Joe's Garage Cranford Street on the 20th October.
We have an epic line up of young musicians who will be entertaining in the outdoor area between 2pm and 5pm. It will be a great chance to support some young muso's, eat some delicious food and wind down with some buddies before the week starts!
Joe's Garage have always been incredibly generous with giving us prizes for our concerts, so it's time for us to give back to them!
